Dada Life are a Swedish DJ duo formed in 2006, which consists of Olle Cornéer and Stefan Engblom.[ane] They have released three albums, a number of singles and remixes and one compilation.[two] [iii] The duo had early nautical chart success in Kingdom of belgium and the Netherlands, while their 2nd anthology The Rules of Dada reached the Billboard 200. They are known for their humour during their live performances, while their name is a homage to the absurdist movement of the early twentieth century.[4] They accept released ii sound plugins programmed by Tailored Noise: Endless Grin, a driblet editor plugin and Sausage Fattener, a saturator.[5]

Career [edit]

Early on career (2006 - 2008) [edit]

Cornéer and Engblom had split up careers earlier they formed a duo and take released music individually since. Engblom used the moniker Phasio and released ane album, Just I More than Twenty-four hours in 2001.[6] [7] Cornéer used the name Dibaba and released Songs For Skilful Lives in 2005.[8] Dada Life came into beingness in 2006 when the duo began releasing a number of 12" singles. They included "Large Time" in May of that year through Breastfed Recordings.,[seven] [9] [10] "The Groovy Smorgasbord" in Dec on Southern Fried Records,[11] congruent with "The Great Fashionista Swindle" through Pickadoll Records.[10] [12] The duo began performing alive notably in Deutschland and the Uk.[7]

In May 2007, the duo released the 12" "Vote Yes",[13] [14] followed in October by "Fun, Fun, Fun",[15] both through Prestel Records.[16] The latter reached the Dutch and Belgian dance charts.[17] [18] In June "This Motorcar Kills Breakfasts" appeared through Alphabet City,[19] [20] while in December, they released "Sweeter Than Fever" through Pickadoll.[21]

In May 2008 they released the 12" "Your Favourite Flu" through U-Boot,[22] followed past "Greenbacks In Drib Out" on Big & Dingy In June.[23] In Dec 2008 the 12" "Prophylactic Band Boogie" again on Pickadoll.[24]

Only Do The Dada (2009 - 2011) [edit]

In apprehension of their debut album, the duo released the single "Happy Hands & Happy Feet" through Big & Dirty in March 2009.[25] [26] It featured vocals past Anthony Mills and reached the Belgian charts.[27] The duo released their outset album Just Do The Dada in September 2009 through The:Hours.[28] It featured song contributions by Anthony Mills, Bita Mazhoni and Anna Mourou.[29] A 2d unmarried from the album, "Let's Get Bleeped This evening" was released in November and featured Bita Mazhoni. It also reached the Belgian charts.[30] The tertiary single from the anthology, " Love Vibrations" appeared in Feb 2010 and failed to chart.[31] In May 2010 the 12" "Cookies With A Grin" appeared, featuring Anthony Mills on vocals.[32]

Dada Life oftentimes headlines at N America's 2 largest electronic dance festivals, the Electric Daisy Funfair and Ultra Music Festival. At Electrical Daisy Carnival 2011, Dada Life brought out a total marching band to perform their vocal "White Noise / Ruby Meat."[33]

The Rules of Dada (2012-2016) [edit]

In Oct 2012, Dada Life released their second total-length anthology, The Rules of Dada that reached the lower echelons of the Billboard 200,[34] and the acme 20 of the UK Dance anthology chart.[35] Information technology included the singles "Feed The Dada" and "Kick Out the Epic Motherfucker", which both charted in Sweden.[36]

In autumn 2012, Dada Life embarked on a bout of the same name, visiting over 40 cities in the Us and Canada. In November 2013 the duo release "Born to Rage" that reached the nautical chart in Kingdom of belgium and Sweden.[37] [38]

In March 2014 Engblom was forced to abandon performing due to a medical emergency.[39] In September 2014, Cornéer was diagnosed with cancer and took a temporary absence from performing.[forty] In 2015 he released the album I under the name Night Gestalt.[41] He has since been declared cancer-gratis.

In December 2014, the duo engaged in a publicity stunt that allegedly concerned a lost MacBook Pro and a pair of headphones.[42] [43] Through social media accounts bearing the name Dada Death,[44] [45] [46] a campaign for the single "This night We're Kids Again" was launched.[47] [48] [49] In March 2015 they released the compilation mix Welcome To Dada Land.[50]

The duo collaborated with vocalist Lzzy Hale of Halestorm in February 2016 for their unmarried "Tic Tic Tic". In July 2016 they released "Scarlet Is The Color Of Rage" that was described as "haunting and nearly subdued", post-obit it upwards with "Xanthous Is The Color Of Happiness" soon after.[51]

They cite John Cage, Niggling Richard, Acid House and Trance as inspiration.[52]

Our Nation (2017-present) [edit]

In September 2017, Cornéer announced his intent to end touring as role of Dada Life due to health concerns, simply made it clear that his concerns had nothing to do with his 2014 cancer diagnosis. He continues to produce in-studio with Engblom.[53]

In Nov 2017, Dada Life released "Nosotros Want Your Soul", the first single from their and then-untitled tertiary studio album. In March 2018, the second single, "Higher Than The Sun", was released, forth with the title of the album - Our Nation - and the announcement of a tour to support it. The album was released on May 4, 2018.[54] Another single, "Do It Till Your Face Hurts", was released in March as well.[55]

In 2007 they released the vocal "We Meow, You Roar" on a split 12" with Rob Mooney through Substance.[56] [57] They have remixed "Dynasty" and "Llove" past Kaskade (feat. Haley), "Big Bad Wolf" by Duck Sauce, "Who Is Ready To Bound" by Chuckie, and "Prutataaa" by Afrojack and R3hab.

Name [edit]

Dada Life is named afterward the Dada art movement in 20th century Europe. The avant-garde art move formed from an artistic anarchy, fighting confronting the cultural, political, and social values of the time.[58] In the same way, Dada Life and rave culture as a whole is a protest to return to the feel of the body and away from the capitalistic and rationalist dogma of today's society.[ citation needed ]

Notable acts [edit]

On October 26, 2013, Dada Life bankrupt the Guinness Globe Tape for the world'due south largest pillow fight at a Dada Land Compound event at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago and had 3,813 participants.[59] [lx]

On July 19, 2014 Dada Life debuted Dada Country: The Voyage, a mini-festival in San Bernardino, CA attended by over 10,000 fans where the duo arrived via hot air airship.[41] [61]

On July 19, 2015, Dada Life broke the Guinness World Tape for the world's largest gathering of people dressed as fruit at Dada Land: The Voyage. The event was at San Manuel Amphitheater in Southern California and had 629 participants.[62]
